Shopping For A New Car?

There are no official fuel-consumption figures yet available. I saw an average of 15.0 L/100 km in my low-powered Euro-spec model, which is awful, but then, I was mashing the pedal a lot. You name it and the Discovery Sport has it, in spades. Full connectivity, with 4G WiFi capability and six USB ports to keep everyone glued to their screens. Driver鈥檚 assistance is totally up-to-date, with effective lane-keeping and blind-spot warnings - all the fancy stuff. There鈥檚 reasonable space in the back with the third-row seats flat, and almost nothing when they鈥檙e raised. More to the point, each of the seats will fold flat individually for no end of permutations for storage. The Discovery Sport has been very successful for Land Rover over the last four years. This update keeps its technology and conveniences in line with the most recent SUVs on the market and should prove popular with buyers. But take a test drive to make sure the performance is enough for you. The writer was a guest of the automaker. Content was not subject to approval. Shopping for a new car? Both estimates are subpar for the class. Nonhybrid rivals such as the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and even Land Rover鈥檚 own Velar cost less at the pump. The Sport鈥檚 diesel engine fares better, earning 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The EPA has not evaluated the 2019 plug-in hybrid HSE as of this writing, but Land Rover estimates that it has 31 miles of all-electric range. The all-wheel-drive Range Rover Sport is not as agile as the Jaguar F-Pace or BMW X5, but it tackles turns confidently. Its ride quality is generally good. The Land Rover Range Rover Sport may have good on-road composure, but it really shines off-road. Aside from other Land Rovers, few class rivals can match its prowess on the trails. Hill descent control, an all-wheel-drive system, a single speed transfer case, and a Terrain Response system are standard. Upgrades include Rock Crawl mode, an adaptive air suspension for adjusting ground clearance, and Terrain Response 2, which automatically adapts to varying landscapes. The Range Rover Sport has a wading depth of 29.5 inches.

Here is what the radiator looks like from the front with the grille off. The electric fan I used is from a V8 Mercedes. 15 at the wrecking yard. It is the largest diameter fan that would fit my application. The fan is powered through a relay. The repay is powered through a thermal witch and a switch by the driver so the fan can be turned off for a water crossing. While I was at it I also used the horns from the same Mercedes, also powered through a relay. Radiator hoses that fit can be hard to come up with unless you are willing to use universal flex hoses. I wanted to use molded hoses with smooth sides. I bought flexible aluminium heater hose, shaped them into the shapes I needed then went to an auto parts store and sorted though hoses until I found the right shape in the correct diameters. You are very unlikely to find a correct hose by looking through a book.

The LR2 is Land Rover's all-new replacement for the compact Freelander. This five-seater five-door joins the lineup as a 2008 model, and to achieve a balance between handling and comfort, it utilizes a Ford car-based platform. It supposedly retains Land Rover's legendary off-road capability, but we are not so sure, with the absence of low-range gearing. Equipped with permanent intelligent all-wheel drive, the LR2 utilizes an electronically controlled center differential to vary the torque split between the front and rear axles as needed. The LR2 also features Terrain Response and the new Roll Stability Control system. It is powered by a 3.2-litre inline-six Volvo engine combined with a six-speed automatic transmission that features manual shifting. Equipment includes leather seats, power front seats, dual-panel sunroof, keyless starter button, front and rear fog lights, rear park distance control, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control. Options include touchscreen DVD navigation, bi-xenon adaptive front lighting, Bluetooth hands-free telephone integration and a 14-speaker Dolby Pro Logic II 7.1 Surround Sound system.
