THE ULTIMATE CAR GUIDE

THE ULTIMATE CAR GUIDE

Ford Motor Company realized it cannot rely more on its larger SUVs for profits. The Expedition is too large and the Explorer faced controversies, so raking in to the smallest and hottest segment is deemed prudent. It was a risk worth going for, since people aren't interested on driving a large SUV on a daily basis. With Ford realizing that most SUV owners do not take their vehicles off-road, a monocoque car based platform is used with an AWD system by Dana was thrown in for emergency purposes. The result: the Ford Escape and its Mazda Tribute twin. Bet you didn't know that this was sold as the Ford Maverick in Europe to lukewarm success since it didn't offer one item that Europeans love: a diesel engine. A 2007 update had the Asian and American versions be treated to different designs which enabled them to have their own distinct personality. The American version was redesigned in 2012 with the Asian version following suit.

Though far from concrete, the aim is to introduce the model during 2014. It would be built at MG's Birmingham, England plant. That means the sports car manufacturer will not actually be manufacturing any sports cars for at least three years, rather preferring to focus its attention on the new MG6 and a small city car to be built in the UK. MG plans to build the new sports cars in Birmingham, England, as the brand鈥檚 Chinese owner, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC), attempts to reintroduce MG throughout Europe. One source close to the project says that MG wants to create a direct rival to the Mazda Miata, which is why a front-engine, rear-drive layout is preferred. The first rumored model to be offered will be the 2014 MG TF Roadster with a front engine or rear drive layout and a soft-top design. A retactable hadrtop will not be offered due to cost and complexity. Sources tell us a midengine layout, as used on today's TF, has been rejected because of the styling and packaging limitations it forces on the car, while front-wheel drive has been eliminated for not being sporty enough. MG does not expect the TF to live much beyond the end of 2010, leaving the brand without a sports cars for at least three years while a new model is developed. The company has not ruled out trying to find a partner with which to share a platform.

The eye-tracking system notices if the driver looks down - as if they were checking a phone - and offers to send a message through a simplified and contextual interface on the car鈥檚 main infotainment screen. Software features making use of existing hardware include protection when opening a door; the Cristobal uses the blind-spot monitoring system to watch for cars or cyclists who may hit the opening door. If it senses that鈥檚 going to happen, it vibrates the seat, flashes the blind-spot warning lights and issues a verbal warning inside the cabin. SEAT claims that if half of the vehicles on the road had the same feature set as Cristobal, the amount of road accidents could be reduced by as much as 40 percent. Stefan Illijevic, the Cristobal project leader, told Auto Express that four key factors stand in the way of the car鈥檚 features making production: technical feasibility, a business case, customer acceptance and legal clearance. He hopes that discussions with the insurance industry could help to negate the cost to customers, helping to improve the chances of the technology being introduced. 鈥淲e think there鈥檚 real potential to work with the insurance industry on this,鈥?Illijevic said. What do you think of the tech on the SEAT Leon Cristobal?

I feel like he was trying to fool us and hope that we wouldn't even notice. I couldn't even speak to him on the phone as I was so angry, so I got my husband to speak to him instead. He did say they would give us our tires back. I am completely infuriated as I had my newborn baby in the back seat. I felt very afraid for my and my baby's safety that I called my husband to meet me to switch vehicles. My husband is taking the vehicle to the dealership tomorrow morning and hopefully this will get rectified soon as this has been ongoing for nearly 2 months. I hope they do as they say and give me back my new Michelin tires with tires sensors. My worse fear is that my tires are installed onto someone else's RR. I feel like I have to look underneath my hood every time I get my vehicle serviced now and make sure my engine or anything else wasn't switched without my knowledge. I have NEVER experienced anything like this before with any dealership and we have dealt with Acura, Lexus and Porsche presently and in the past.
