Land Rover Defender 90 Review
In a car park full of neat sedans and soft-roaders, the Defender brings a sense of rawness. Our test model is fitted with optional black checker plate trim for the exterior, a snorkel and body flares, all adding to the look of a truly tough bush-ready machine (or perhaps a zombie apocalypse get away car?). The large front grille, raised bonnet, and overall square design of the front end make the Defender look very commando when viewed through a rear-view mirror. The same can be said for the rear, from behind you鈥檇 expect no one other than Stallone to jump out, rifle in hand. The current model Defender is equipped with ABS brakes and power-assisted steering. As far as safety equipment goes, that鈥檚 probably the Defender鈥檚 biggest let down. There are no airbags or a stability control system available. With safety regulations reaching new heights every year, and regulations varying from country to country, Land Rover knows the Defender is on borrowed time in some markets, hence its 2015 replacement.
If you're a car lover then this cute-ute is for you! It's interesting to drive, it's reasonably roomy, and it's handsome! You can't ask for anything more! Can't make it to the auction? Leather, MoonRoof, Spoiler..Oh My..! In other words this Cadillac Deville with creamy tan leather interior and chrome wheels will sell to the high bidder! That means if no matter what the bid is this Solid Running Cady in Great Shape will be sold to you! This Cadillac has a great motor and transmission and with the right miles it's no wonder anyone who drives off with it will be laughing about what an amazing deal they got at out public car auction. After driving this Cadillac around I noticed it hadled very well. What surprised me was that I couldnt find any rust or touch ups at all. Must have been an older couples car who drove it down to Florida! It's not perfect but drives good! Leather, dual climate controls, heated seats. The body is 90% good condition, but it's not perfect, there are a couple of blemishes, but it's clean car!
I鈥檝e challenged some of the younger team members to spend time in the car and find one element to the design that doesn鈥檛 have a purpose. That鈥檚 evident in the new Jaguar E-Pace that Rogers shows us around with its cleverly designed, minimalist interior. Rogers has two Series Ones in his collection, plus a 1959 Series Two, an ex-Post Office vehicle from Scotland currently undergoing faithful restoration, and a 1973 Series Three. Alongside the Jaguar XK120 is a 1988 XJS - an ex-Jaguar company car that he鈥檚 traced the history of and has been restoring using original parts. It鈥檚 not just cars, either. 鈥檚 using to build a much-needed new garage at home - once an engineer, always an engineer. 鈥淎ll my cars have got their own special story,鈥?Rogers tells us. 鈥淎nd we know that the cars we make will be making memories for their owners. 鈥淲hat we鈥檙e making will have a huge influence on people鈥檚 lives. But it鈥檚 not only customers鈥?lives that Rogers is thinking about; it鈥檚 his team - numbering 12,000 in engineering alone out of Jaguar Land Rover鈥檚 45,000 global employees. 鈥淥ur people鈥檚 livelihoods depend on producing products that can change people鈥檚 lives,鈥?he explains. As much as Rogers demonstrates a clear love of the product, it鈥檚 the people who take centre stage - those who buy the products and those who make them. This is a reminder that the car business is as much about the people as the product - something that Rogers instills in his team and that reflects in the award-winning Jaguar Land Rover cars for which they鈥檙e responsible. Which of Rogers' collection would you have as your daily driver? Let us know in the comments below.

Famous mud-trekker returns in all-new form with monocoque platform, mild electrification and clever off-road tech. Can it still handle the rough? Welcome to the all-new Land Rover Defender, first previewed as a concept car at the Frankfurt motor show eight years ago and now as a production-ready article at the same German car event this week. Available in three-door 90 and five-door 110 variations, the modern-day Defender retains the boxy silhouette of yore but injects contemporary design details on the front, rear and sides of the vehicle. Wheel size ranges from 18-22 inches. The same goes for the interior which has been modernised with digital instruments. But rather than adopting the traditional chassis-on-frame underbody, the new Defender comes with a monocoque platform (dubbed D7x) and independent suspension which should greatly improve its on-road driving manners. To live up with its fabled muddy credentials, there鈥檚 air sus, a set of driving modes and low-range gears plus the brand鈥檚 so-called ClearSight tech that offers the driver views of what鈥檚 happening below the vehicle front and rear.
