At first, the new GLK looks like a disguised GL but in reality, this production model is significantly smaller than the large SUV. Translated, the name GLK basically means "short version of GL" as K is a diminutive of the German "kurz," meaning short. The GLK will use mechanical components from the all new Mercedes C-Class (which its based on), and it will keep very close in design to the GL. The GLK will debut as a 2009 model at the Frankfurt motorshow in Germany 2008. The SUV sighted here is a GLK 350 and power is expected to come from a 3.5-litre V6 with Mercedes 4Matic all-wheel-drive standard. All versions are expected to have the 7G-Tronic TouchShift automatic transmission. Later on there could be a V8-powered GLK63 AMG version. While the U.S is gradually moving away from large SUVs, Mercedes is losing market share to small SUVs like the BMW X3 and Land Rover Freelander/LR2. With this new GLK it is hoping to get back on top again. Diesel engines will look a little like this; GLK 220, 280 & 320 CDI. BlueTec models will arrive later on. European pricing is expected to start in the regions of 35,000 EUR but we noticed how the SUV is kitted out with parking sensors, xenon headlamps, power tailgate and tinited windows.
Mazda. That means firmness and crispness in the handling, quick steering response, minimal body roll, and a well-balanced mixture of ride and handling. Ride comfort, over bumps, even with the 45-series tires on the Grand Touring version, was decent, though, of course, the 55s on the base Sport version would probably be a little better. Steering response was smooth, precise, with decent effort/feel for an electric steering unit, and the car generally went right where you pointed it. Mazda still does some of the best suspension/steering/chassis-tuning of any Japanese manufacturer, IMO almost as good as the last-generation BMWs with the hydraulic steering. Road noise was audible but not bad at all, and wind noise was generally well-muted. Brakes did not feel quite as firm or solid, to me, as the reviewer-comments would indicate, but I found no problems with them, or in pedal-placement for my large feet. Driver-centered Gold Star of Mid-sized sedans in its size/price-class, though I'd prefer a N/A V6, a more conventional manual bump-shift pattern, a better design for the hood/gas-flap buttons, and a substantially better design for the overly-complex Mazda Connect video system.
A number of changes to the Autobiography Black exterior give it a distinctive and subtly different character. A unique design finish has been appointed to the front grille and side vents along with distinguishable badging in black enamel and chrome. Signature rear lamps and auxiliary vents to the front add to the exclusivity of this vehicle with a chrome accent finish to the tailgate. Two new and exclusive Autobiography Black wheel designs accompany the core Range Rover wheel choices. 鈥淭he Range Rover Autobiography Black is the latest step in our transformational journey that moves luxury to another level.
