NZ's Most Popular SUVs And What's Behind Their Success
Take New Zealand's most popular SUV, the Toyota RAV4, as a prime example. Last year 3612 of them were registered as new vehicles, which placed the model second only to the Toyota Corolla as the biggest-selling passenger vehicle in the country. But of that total, 1593 of the RAV4 sales were to rental companies. Of course a vehicle sale is a vehicle sale, whether it is to a rental company or a family. But the rental business, which is at an all-time high right now as tourism experiences boom times, does skew the registration figures. Last year the top-selling medium-sized SUVs were, in order, the RAV4, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Holden Captiva. But if the rental business was factored out of the sales equation, the order of popularity would be Sportage, CX-5, Hyundai Santa Fe, and the RAV4 and Mitsubishi Outlander dead-heated in fourth place. The RAV4 deserves to be at the top of the tree.
New colorways compliment the revised upholstery design with Ebony, Tan and Ivory and there are matching door casings in Ebony PVC with Ivory stitching and Ebony PVC with Tan contrast stitching. Three new fascia finishers come in either Element Silver, Dark Chestnut and Black Lacquer Finish. This Black Lacquer Finish (optional) is also carried over onto the steering wheel switchpack. At the high end of the option range, the LUX Package comes with Windsor Leather upholstery in Ebony, Almond, Ivory or Tan colorways. The Pack includes the luxurious 8/6 way electric seat plus premium carpet mats. All 2011 LR2s will benefit from a clear and contemporary new instrument pack too. The LR2 provides the safest possible environment for occupants. The Command Driving Position provides good visibility of all four corners of the vehicle and narrow A-pillars ensure that forward visibility is not compromised. There are seven airbags: two curtain, two front, two thorax and a driver鈥檚 knee bag as standard. The transverse engine mounting not only frees up interior space but offers impressive crash performance, helping the LR2 achieve a 5 star Euro NCAP rating for adult occupant protection.
During delivery, the rim was not fixed and the touch ups on the bumpers were not 100% satisfactory. I鈥檓 willing to give a pass on the attempts to fix the bumpers (it is a used car after all). However, the fact that the rim was not fixed was a bit disappointing. Robby did rectify the matter by having the rim looked at and fixed right away. I would have expected all these to be done, inspected and ready by the scheduled time I arrived at the dealership. 2. Prior to the delivery date, I received an email from their 鈥淓ncore Specialist鈥?with a reminder of things I needed to do (e.g. confirm insurance, balance amount for money order, etc.). This is great and I appreciated the reminder! However, the amount appearing in the email did not match the balance on the paper I signed when agreeing to the deal. I give it a pass assuming it was a typo. After all, no reputable business would change purchase amount without discussing with the customer first. 3. I noticed a lack of communication/coordination between the various personnel at the dealership. For example, the inspection write-up from Lexus dealership was sitting with some rep who was off on the day of my scheduled delivery. So this had to be emailed to me after. What if I noticed something on the inspection write-up that was a deal breaker? None the less, I agreed to receive via email after and thankfully found nothing major that I consider a deal breaker. Another example was lack of communication around the transfer of vehicle/plates between my wife and I. 4. The detailing of the vehicle was not to our satisfaction. My wife ran her fingers over the dashboard and came out with black dusty hands. I don't want to make it sound like a horrible job. It wasn't. My wife and I are very picky on these things and expect high standards from luxury brands.
It can be used the same way. That page may look a little different now, however. Previously there were also menus in which you could find, for instance, the U.S. Auto Sales By Brand post from February 2010 and the Canada Commercial Van category. Those menus still exist on GoodCarBadCar, but they've moved to The Tally page. The Sales Stats menu allows you to see how one vehicle has fared over the course of the last decade or so. The Tally page is where you'll find posts which compare vehicles in their respective categories, and in the case of the All Vehicle Rankings, with every other vehicle on sale. As before, the Best Sellers page offers links to every best seller post on GoodCarBadCar and provides links through myriad dropdown menus to brand rankings posts and worst sellers rankings. These are small changes, but changes we hope will make it easier for you to find the information you require. For Internet Explorer users who had been having trouble utilizing the Sales Stats dropdown menus, we apologize. Feel free to contact Timothy Cain in the future with any problems you might be having in your quest to locate specific automotive sales data. Oh, as a general life principle, use Chrome if you're on a PC. Tomorrow is one of the twelve most important days in this niche publishing industry's year. U.S. and Canadian divisions of every automaker report October and year-to-date sales figures. There'll be brand rankings, U.S.
