Tuning: 2019 Startech Land Rover Freelander 2

Tuning: 2019 Startech Land Rover Freelander 2

At the Frankfurt Motor Show IAA 2009 the Land Rover Freelander 2 with STARTECH design celebrates its world debut. The face of the English SUV receives more character with the sporty yet elegant STARTECH front element with integrated LED daytime running lights. The new front element was designed to attach to the lower part of the production bumper. The STARTECH attachment for the liftgate continues the contour of the rear bumper across its entire width. The result is an even more balanced rear appearance of the Freelander 2 compared with the production car. The fully stainless-steel STARTECH sport exhaust system with chrome-plated tailpipes left and right adds yet another visual and acoustic highlight. Custom-tailored versions of the exhaust system are available for all Freelander 2 models. STARTECH Monostar IV light-alloy wheels give the Freelander 2 an even more refined appearance and increase both driving fun and safety reserves. The one-piece five-spoke wheels in size 9Jx20 are mounted with size 265/45 R 20 tires front and back and make full use of the available space under the wheel arches. The STARTECH program also offers a multitude of customization options for the interior of the smallest Land Rover model: The company upholstery shop can answer the exclusive requests of any Freelander 2 owner, perfect down to the last detail. The upholsterers masterfully handcraft interiors in any color and upholstery design imaginable. The materials of choice for the exclusive STARTECH interiors are especially soft and breathable leathers and Alcantara.

According to the Metropolitan police, thieves gain entry either by using a device to block the radio signals when a victim uses their electronic key to lock the vehicle, or by smashing the driver鈥檚 side window. Once inside they plug a device into the onboard diagnostic port and download the vehicle鈥檚 electronic information on to a blank key. This key allows them to drive the vehicle away. The whole process can take just seconds. Technology to overcome vehicle immobilisers, a standard security feature in many cars, is also widely available. Tim Pollard, digital editor-in-chief of Parkers and Car magazine, says car manufacturers do take security seriously, 鈥渂ut it鈥檚 a game of cat and mouse鈥? He says: 鈥淎s with all electronic hacking, the manufacturers make a security upgrade one day, the criminals then try their damnedest to unpick that update. While thieves become ever smarter, they are also helped by the carelessness of car owners. He warns against leaving keys where they can be 鈥渇ished鈥?for through the letterbox, or leaving the car unattended with the keys in.

Customers receive a low-price lease with a smaller amount of money down and smaller monthly payments. Lessees only pay sales tax on the financed amount and don鈥檛 have to worry about vehicle depreciation.

The main controls, including the central touchscreen, are ergonomically clustered within the magnesium frame to enable the installation of an innovative optional front row centre seat while also allowing for movement across the front of the cabin. Practicality is a hallmark of Land Rover interior design and the new Defender comes with an abundance of storage opportunities including a choice of high and low centre consoles. The durable constructivist theme is consistent throughout the interior with visible fixings that retain the structural door casings while partially exposing the painted doors. This pared-back design philosophy extends to the durable rubberised flooring which combines with flush door sills to provide genuine mop or brush clean functionality. Other details include; cast magnesium features, padded waist rails, grab handles and arm rests. The innovative Front Row Centre Seat (otherwise known as jump seat) allows three people to travel in the front row. 2 seating while the short-wheelbase Land Rover Defender 90 can accommodate six occupants in a compact family hatchback length body.

It seems that Land Rover has had quite a hard time keeping the 2020 Defender under wraps before its official debut later this year. Taking a starring role in the movie, the all-new Defender has certainly undergone some changes since its last iteration. Fans have already criticised the new look, saying that the lines are too rounded for the Defender nameplate. At the front end of the SUV, a set of square headlights are present and sit alongside a set of horizontal air intakes. It's quite hard to compare this model with the outgoing one from this image, but the front end looks a little narrower and might sit a little lower. There's no denying the roundness of the rest of the SUV, but you can certainly see that the old-fashioned design cues have carried over. Arguably the most notable rounded aspect of the new Defender is the roofline which has ditched the flattened look.
