Never thought of purchasing a car at an auction. Here is your chance to get a a great car at a 3rd of the price. The 1998 Dodge Durango sought to do for SUVs what the Dakota did for pickups: strike a balance between the heavy-duty loads and cargo space of a big truck, and the parkability and handling of a small truck. Dodge called the Durango a compact SUV so it would have the most powerful engine, largest interior, and highest towing and hauling capacity; it was the only 鈥渃ompact鈥?that could seat up to eight people.

As we wandered into uncharted(for me) territory we came down to the warm spring itself, described to me by Linus as a small puddle in the ground. To our astonishment there was a Defender 90 parked at the spring. It belongs to a fellow from Socal(Dave?) and his daughter, Victoria. A quick chat and photos then it was off to explore the springs. I was amazed to find there are several buildings(one had a walk-in refer) here and a swimming pool, presumably filled by the spring. There is enough room to park probably 40 rovers and camping room to spare. One building has a screened in porch and a fireplace in the main room. We hiked to the spring and Chris went back to the car soon followed by Linus. I then got into the spring. Since neither of us had packed a hacksaw(DUH!) we took turns using my file to cut thru the bolts to free the plates. Chris was a real workhorse on this as she filed away! After finding a plate that worked and bolting it back together we decided to head to Beatty, NV.

1,750 option. The Range Rover LR2 with HSE Package that we tested adds HomeLink, high-intensity discharge headlights, a memory driver鈥檚 seat, LED daytime running lamps and a backup camera. The LR2 has an available heated windshield, which is one of the most annoying and questionable features available in many Land Rovers. The squiggly defroster lines run vertically in the windshield and create distracting halos of light at night. 1,000 Climate Comfort Pack that also includes heated seats and a heated steering wheel. If you want heated seats, you鈥檙e stuck with the awful heated windshield. The multimedia system update is appreciated, but the dated interior is in need of more attention. We know Land Rover can do a proper interior; the Evoque and new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport all have rich interior experiences. The LR2 doesn鈥檛 come close. Unchanged are the LR2鈥檚 overall size and dimensions, which work in some ways but definitely do not in others, especially when it comes to providing backseat room. It was a snug fit back there for my 6-foot-tall frame with the front seat positioned where I would drive. I was comfortable, but with not much room to spare.

This Solihull facility has been a key part of Jaguar Land Rover's commitment to increased sustainability. The innovative close-looped system reuses surplus high-grade aluminium from the sheet stamping process within the supply chain. In this way, up to 50 per cent of all sheet aluminium used in New Discovery is manufactured from recycled material. The introduction of Jaguar Land Rover's efficient Ingenium engines showcases the British design and engineering expertise at the heart of New Discovery. The advanced powerplants are produced at the modern Engine Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, UK. The facility, which opened in 2014, is the result of a 拢500 million investment with the vision to set a new global benchmark for excellence in engine manufacturing. The building houses an engine-testing centre alongside the manufacturing and assembly halls. At full capacity 1,400 people are employed at the 100,000m2 site and the strong focus on sustainability is evidenced by the 21,000 solar panels covering its roof (the largest such installation in the UK). The renewable energy source can generate more than 30 per cent of the plant's total energy requirements.

Anything bearing the Land Rover badge has a degree of go-anywhere capability baked right in. Observers of all things off-road have known this to be true for more than 65 years now. Of course, certain newer models within the range have been on the softer side of things. But one of those models, the LR2, is about to get an extreme makeover that's designed to ramp up its real-world versatility. Compared to the LR2, the Discovery Sport is a bit longer and has a slightly longer wheelbase. But it is also lower and narrower than the outgoing model and, like the Evoque, features a swept-back, almost sporty silhouette. 2 seating configuration was even considered. While the platform is a few years old, Land Rover claims that it has been heavily modified for the Discovery Sport. The new vehicle also has 50 per cent new parts compared to the LR2, features an all-new rear suspension and boasts 20 per cent (by weight) high-strength and Boron steels - more than any previous Land Rover.
