The world鈥檚 major car manufacturers are set to descend on Tokyo in October as the 45th edition of the Tokyo Motor Show showcases the best the Japanese car market has to offer. Running between the 27th October and the 5th November, the show will bring together car marques from Japan, Europe and elswhere to showcase their latest cars and concepts to the Japanese public and the world's motoring press. With the likes of Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche leading Europe's representation, it鈥檚 the Japanese exhibits that look set to garner the majority of attention. Below you'll find our round-up of what the top brands are upto in Tokyo. At the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this month, Mazda Europe鈥檚 Vice President for R&D Matsuhiro Tanaka confirmed an evolution of the RX-Vision concept for this year's Tokyo Motor Show. Mitsubishi has released a teaser preview of an all-electric SUV concept called the e-Evolution, with the car set to be fully unveiled in Tokyo next month. Now part of the Renault-Nissan Alliance, Mitsubishi has already forged a path in the electric SUV market with the Outlander PHEV.





JLR is building the E-Pace and all-electric I-Pace under licence in Graz in Austria. It built 80,000 cars in China last year and will build the new E-Pace there for the growing Chinese market: 鈥橶e鈥檝e been really pleased with our bounce-back in China,鈥?said Mr Goss. JLR is about to open this year a vast new factory in Slovakia, with an initial capacity of 150,000 vehicles. The first vehicle off the line is the new Land Rover Discovery. It also builds 5,000 vehicles a year in India and 7,000 in Brazil. Currently it does not build vehicles in North America - its second biggest market. Mr Goss said: 鈥橶e always say 鈥榥ever say never鈥? Land Rover鈥檚 best-seller was the Discovery Sport, making up 126,078, or 28 per cent, of all sales, while the Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport amounted to 190,000 sales. The recently released Velar is also now likely to become a big-seller.





The all-new 2013 Range Rover is the fourth generation in the Range Rover line and is already getting recognition as the world鈥檚 finest luxury SUV. Land Rover announced that MotorWeek has named the all-new 2013 Range Rover "Best Dream Machine" as part of its 2013 Drivers' Choice Awards. The 2013 model has been redesigned from the ground up with a new lightweight body, a new chassis structure and new refinements to the interior. The 2013 Range Rover the world's first SUV with an all-aluminum monocoque body structure that is lighter and stronger than ever before, with a weight savings of about 700 lbs compared to the outgoing model. It also gets a new aluminum platform that includes an aluminum front and rear chassis architecture with a completely re-engineered four-corner air suspension. The reduction in weight results in improved handling in the corners. Andy Goss, President of Jaguar Land Rover North America, accepted the award at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. The new 2013 Range Rover made its North American debut in New York last year, and was revealed to a few select U.S.





The i Sport comes standard with 15-inch steel wheels, a tilt/telescoping steering column, a 60/40-split rear seat with a center armrest, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, a four-speaker stereo with a CD/MP3 player, an auxiliary audio jack and pre-wiring for satellite radio. Air-conditioning and an exterior temperature display are optional. The i Touring Value trim adds 17-inch alloy wheels, foglights, full power accessories, keyless entry, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, driver-seat height adjustment and six speakers. The s Sport sedan gets 16-inch alloy wheels (the hatchback has the 17s), but both body styles feature a bigger engine, slightly different front and rear fascias, different interior trim and electroluminescent gauges. The s Touring adds 17-inch alloys on the sedan and body sill extensions. The s Grand Touring gains auto on/off xenon headlights, automatic rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control, a six-way power driver seat, leather upholstery, heated front seats and a trip computer. Optional on the Grand Touring are a navigation system (which includes satellite radio) and a seven-speaker Bose stereo with an in-dash six-CD changer.
