Where To Find Land Rover Owner鈥檚 Manuals And Documents
If the vehicle is or was not available in your market, there might not be a manual available (although there could be other documentation available, such as accessory guides). 5. Select the Owner tab. The only useful tab for users without a TOPIx subscription will be the 鈥淥wner鈥?tab in the top right corner of the screen, as marked by the arrow. We have selected the 鈥淥wner鈥?tab. 6. Choose the Owner鈥檚 Handbooks tab. On this page you can see what types of documentation are available. The 鈥淪ervice Information鈥?tab includes warranty information and service schedules. 7. Select Owner鈥檚 Handbook. For the 2012 Range Rover Evoque, both the Owner鈥檚 Handbook and the Quick Start Guides are available. 8. Select a document link. At the bottom of the page you will see several links. Some of the links are not overly descriptive, so choose one of the owner鈥檚 handbook links. 9. Select a topic.
I don't know how much longer it would have worked before failing entirely but it was clearly close to the end. I thought we should pull the oil pan to check the bearings, and to my surprise we saw this laying in the pan. As you can see, the pan is otherwise pretty clean. The spots in the image are just bits of crud you see in any oil pan. There is no metal or evidence of damage visible. The oil is normal looking. The crescent piece you see is the thrust face from the center main bearing cap. With no washer in place the crank moves back and forth a few mm. I think this is the original failure . I think the center bearing broke for some reason, the crank moved back and forth over a period of time, and that led to the eventual cracking of the oil pump gear. Had we not caught this, the engine would have failed in the fairly near future. We will repair the bearing and time will tell how that holds up. I have some concerns because the crankshaft face may be galled. If we find that we face the choice of filing it in place, or removing the engine and essentially getting into an overhaul situation. Now that I know this I realize we can check for the problem on an assembled motor by moving the crank pulley back and forth to check for excess play. I wonder how many more of these are out there, waiting to fail?
More importantly, SUVs cost a fortune to feed and depreciate like packet of condoms. So what鈥檚 an SUV-intensive manufacturer like GM to do? Why make an SUV that doesn鈥檛 do all that hard-core SUV stuff, spiffy-it-up a bit, and sell it to all the people who love SUVs but hate SUVs. Ladies and gentlemen, the GMC Acadia. Semi-evil or not, the Acadia sure is a handsome beast. It hits the sweet spot between the overly swoopy Buick Enclave (one of its two ugly Lambda dancing half sisters) and the excessively angular Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot. Though it's not obvious from photographs, the Acadia鈥檚 huge. It鈥檚 only a couple of inches shorter than its GMC sibling (and competitor), the once-mighty Yukon SUV. To add political correctness, GM removed eight inches of height, giving the Acadia a PC-pleasing passenger-car-like appearance. Like all three-row CUV鈥檚, the Acadia鈥檚 packaging is not without its problems. On the positive side, thanks to GM's "SmartSlide" system, passengers don't have to mountaineer over the second row to get into the wayback. But once ensconced, those poor unfortunate souls are relegated to a how-low-can-you-go seating position.
Front axle fitted up. Drag link comes very close to the spring, I'm told it will be OK when the weight is on and the spring flattens out. Steering relay rebuilt with new bushes and seals. Not a job for the fain hearted. Dealing with the compressed spring gets the heart rate going.. I also bought a series 3 gearbox, as the one that came on my Land Rover was off a series 2A, I figured if I'm going to rebuild one, it may as well be the correct type. I've stripped it down, including the transfer and front output box. 1st gear & the reverse/1st/2nd synchro hub corroded due to water getting into the box. The rest was in pretty good nick. So am just rounding up all the parts I need and will then place an order. I was lucky to find a few of the gears NOS locally, from a guy in Gore who had bought a lot of stock when the Land Rover dealership closed down.
