The 2019 Land Rover Discovery HSE Luxury

The 2019 Land Rover Discovery HSE Luxury

15,000 jump from the SE, but the standard equipment list is impressive. 鈥?20-inch 10-split spoke style wheels. 鈥?Ten-inch Pro navigation system with Pro Services and wi-fi hotspot. 鈥?LED signature headlights with automatic high-beam assist. 鈥?Windsor leather seats. 鈥?An 825-watt, 16-speaker plus subwoofer Meridian audio system. 鈥?Configurable ambient lighting. 鈥?Heated front and rear seats. 鈥?Seating for seven instead of five. 鈥?Remote intelligent folding seats. 鈥?Twin-speed transfer box. 鈥?Electronic air suspension. 鈥?Front fog lights. 鈥?Cold climate package. 鈥?Power sunroof with fixed panel over rear seats. 鈥?Powered gesture tailgate. 鈥?Electrically adjustable steering column. 鈥?Three-zone climate control. 鈥?SiriusXM Satellite Radio and HDRadio. 鈥?An interactive driver display. 鈥?Traffic sign recognition and adaptive speed limiter. Now, that last number may have produced an "ouch"---but the Discovery really only has one direct competitor---the Lexus GX460---and it'll cost you about the same, comparably equipped. In 22 years of reviewing cars, I've driven more than a few machines that cost north of 75 grand that only did one thing well, if that. The 2019 Land Rover Discovery HSE Luxury is a brilliant luxury vehicle and one of the best off-roaders on the planet. It's the best of both worlds.

Having made its debut in 1970, the V8-equipped Range Rover swept through and made a fast impression due to its aluminum body, extra pop, and trademark versatility. The company changed hands yet again in the middle of the 1980s British Aerospace took over the brand. The Range Rover finally landed on American soil in 1987 and after two years, the Discovery followed suit as the first new Land Rover in just under two decades. BMW purchased the company in 1995 and as a result, the company attitude began to veer even more towards luxury. As the 90s wore on, Land Rover introduced another model to the roster, the compact Freelander (which would later go onto become the LR2). With features such as Hill Descent Control along with its rugged yet smooth demeanor, the Freelander received a substantial amount of attention. Any surface, any terrain, Land Rover covers ground by sheer force. Land Rover models employ a look that's all their own: boxy yet smooth; practical but dominant. Each series has expounded upon itself, taking from the generation that precedes it while adding the elements and designs that continue to escort this juggernaut coast to coast. Land Rover covers the spectrum with the powerfully authentic LR2, and of course, the entire scope of the highly-touted Range Rover series. CARiD wants to be a part of what makes you love your model and we have the Land Rover Accessories and Parts to back it up. To us, this is serious business. Trust only the best when it comes to your Land Rover accessories, because when making custom changes to your model, that's what you will remember. And that is what everyone else will notice.

104,900, the Volvo XC90 T8 Excellence is the most expensive car the company has put into production. 100,000 mark on any of its production cars. Most significant, the XC90 Excellence is Volvo's clearest signal that it sees itself as a full-fledged luxury brand. Volvo's new-found luxury tilt veers from the brand's traditional image as an inconspicuous, safe, and reliable option for the everyday commute. In recent years, Volvo has steadily moved from the near-luxury space into full-on luxury. As a result, the Swedish brand will how have to contend against stalwarts from Mercedes, Audi, Lexus, Jaguar, and Land Rover. Instead of more pragmatic buyers, Volvo's stylish-minded offerings gives the brand access to a whole new group of customers. Volvo's Lex Kerssemakers said in a statement. Last year, at the Shanghai auto show, Volvo introduced the concept version of the Excellence Interior and made the brand one of the hot topics of discussion.

The motorway slows to a crawl as the van is hooked up to the Discovery and towed to a refuge area. Each incident we witness over the next hour or so is dramatic and concerning: an overturned caravan; a scaffolding pole in a live lane; a pedestrian who might be about to jump from an overpass. But this is just another Friday for control-centre staff, who handle such situations with calmness and professionalism. From the vantage point of the control room and the all-seeing CCTV network, we notice that traffic seems to move like water. A blockage further up the motorway network sends a ripple of congestion down the road, with cleared jams resulting in free-flowing vehicles, albeit with a delayed reaction. We part company with Orla and head to the control centre car park, where we join traffic officers Gary Perl and Tom Gubbins as they carry out pre-patrol checks on their Land Rover Discovery. With that out of the way and the checks completed, we head out on to the M25. Tom speaks highly of the Discovery.
