Tata Motors risks sinking deeper into junk as its earnings wane. Fitch placed the company on negative credit watch, citing Brexit risks. Tata Motors, N. Chandrasekaran, as saying that JLR would take 鈥渄ecisive steps鈥?to increase competitiveness, lower costs and improve cash flow amid the market challenges鈥攊ncluding those in China, which is kind of its own story. The majority of the cuts are expected in UK management roles, costing the company 拢200m. On Thursday, Tata said there will be no further job losses beyond those already announced. Excluding the one-off accounting charge, JLR lost 拢273m before tax during the last quarter. This is a significant increase on its 拢90m loss in the previous quarter and a 拢192m profit a year earlier. Revenues fell by 拢100m to 拢6.2bn as vehicle sales fell to 144,602 for the quarter, almost 10,000 less than the previous year. Last year, JLR launched a 拢2.5bn programme of cost-cutting and working capital improvements in an attempt to turn the company around. It delivered 拢500m of the programme in the third quarter.
