For the world's elite business leaders and rulers, safety often times comes at the cost of style. That's why in early 2007, Land Rover Special Vehicles (a division of Land Rover brands) launched what some may consider a significant advancement in the world of Personal Security. The technology packed into this vehicle is similar to what if commonly found in vehicles of the presidential family or SIS vehicles used for transporting the royal family. The Range Rover Vogue Security Vehicle is a fully armored Range Rover Vogue designed to protect occupants from a variety of deadly weaponry including grenades, automatic machine guns such as the AK47 and claymore mines. The vehicle can be outfitted with four different armor levels depending upon client and perceived threat levels. This amazing level of security found in armoured Range Rover vehicles is facilitated by the use of next generation technologies and components including ballistic and blast steel, Kevlar, Spectra-shield and Dyneema fibers. These components are spread through throughout the surface of the car to protect from direct attacks as well as vector based armaments. To protect against grenades and IEDs, the underside of the car has also been structurally reinforced. The glass in the vehicle is all plasma cut and up to 40mm thick to neutralize most projectile based attacks.
On a very muddy and slippery opening run the top three BCCC crews were separated by just three seconds with Toby Jefferson leading ahead of Lofthouse and Martin Cox . Torrential rain made parts of the course treacherous but the crews battled on with Jefferson, Tom Hipkiss and Lofthouse sharing fastest times on Saturday鈥檚 five runs. Lofthouse ended day one just over two minutes ahead of Hipkiss with Karl Gudgeon in third. With both Hipkiss and Gudgeon suffering steering problems on day two Lofthouse was able to extend his lead over the day鈥檚 six runs and he finished with a lead of seven minutes. 鈥淚t was a tough event, very hard on both the car and the crew,鈥?said Lofthouse. Paul Garner put in some great times on Sunday to pip Hipkiss for second on the final run. Despite dropping to third Hipkiss was delighted with his performance: 鈥淚t鈥檚 my best-ever BCCC result, second would鈥檝e been even better but third is excellent.
The Lexus RX 300, made its debut in America in 1998. The only engine and drivetrain combination available was the 3.0 L 1MZ-FE V6 and either front or four wheel drive. The first-generation RX 300 continued largely unchanged until November 2000, when the 2.2 L 5S-FE engine was replaced by the 2.4 L 2AZ-FE 4-cylinder engine, producing 159 hp JIS (117 kW) and 221 Nm (163 ft路lbf). Again, the new engine was offered with either front wheel drive or four wheel drive. The change in engine also meant a change in model code, which was now ACU10 for the front wheel drive version and ACU15 for the four wheel drive version. A small facelift was also performed on the Harrier. 2000 is also the year where the Lexus RX 300 first went on sale in Europe and Asia. The distinguishing feature for those versions of the RX 300 is a different rear light cluster and larger wheels. The front wheel drive version was not offered in either Europe or Asia. For European and Asian markets, the second generation RX was launched in early 2003, where it continues to be a RX 300 and is made in Japan. Mechanical specification is more or less identical to the 3.0 L V6 Toyota Harrier, with only the four wheel drive version available. Once again, air-suspension and Mark Levinson audio can be specified. The Toyota Harrier Hybrid went on sale in Japan on March 2005, and the Lexus RX 400h hybrid went on sale during the 2006 model year in North America. Refer to any pop-culture tidbits about the vehicle in this section. The 1998 RX 300 was awarded the Most Appealing Luxury SUV by J.D.
